Tatebanko is the forgotten Japanese art of creating amazing dioramas and scenic perspectives from paper. Tatebanko was popular and widely admired from the 17th century to the early 20th century. Then it all but disappeared. Now these kits have revived and reinterpreted this simple and elegant Japanese art. Featuring the works of famed Edo artists, the kits are beautifully designed and printed in Japan. Hiroshige (1797〜1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, and one of the last great artists in that tradition.

Evening Snow at Kambara is a piece of artwork from “The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō”
